Hong Kong director and action choreographer Yuen Woo Ping has signed up to direct the China-Canada martial arts co-production Vigilantes: The Lost Order. The film will focus around a female assassin whose efforts to avenge her father’s murder lead her to uncover a conspiracy in the world of high finance.
‘Vigilantes: The Lost Order’ will be the first Hollywood feature to be helmed by Yuen Woo Ping, who is probably best known in the West for his work on The Matrix, Kill Bill and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Woo Ping’s most recent directing stunt was on the Hong Kong-mainland China co-production True Legend, while he also worked on the wing chun action scenes for Wong Kar-Wai’s upcoming The Grandmaster.
Production of Vigilantes: The Lost Order is expected to begin early next year, and the film will reportedly be the first in a planned trilogy of movies.
